A NEW LIFE
A Poem written by Tonya Standiford, a leukemia patient hero.
W
hen you think of me don't feel sad or blue
I only think happy thoughts when I think of you
I was chosen to have this dreadful disease
And with your help I've handled it with unbelievable ease
God had sent Miracles down from above
When the odds were against us he showed us His love
I've been given a wonderful doctor and brother
Family and friends have rallied around
Without one remark or complaining sound
I will say for now that I "HAD" cancer
So if you ask that will be my answer
This blessing has taught me one thing or two
I call it a blessing because it is me and not you
If in my life it decides to return
It is than I will know there is more to learn
So continue to think positive thoughts day and night
And remember you are the ones who help me to fight.
This poem was read to 800 participants and guests by Tonya Standiford at the
TEAM in TRAINING
pasta party before the Mardi Gras Marathon.
